This week I went to a conference in Scottsdale, Arizona. The hotel? Gorgeous. The people? Amazing. The UV? ELEVEN. ☀️
I got the chance to deepen my connection with my team, network with some of the top people in the company, and have some truly eye-opening conversations. But it wasn’t all sunshine, I also had to face a few personal challenges during the conference.
After talking with some of the best sales professionals and leaders in the business, here are a few hairy truths I walked away with:
1. Get up and start acting like the person you keep telling everyone you are.
Not that I’m being a phony, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t feel like one sometimes. Being at the conference and meeting so many incredible, accomplished people was both inspiring and intimidating. It made me question what I was really bringing to the table. For a moment, I started doubting myself and wondering if I was just pretending to belong.
But the more I sat with it, the more I realized: I’m not a phony. I’m just still becoming.
Every day at that conference, I woke up at 6 a.m. or earlier, went to the gym, tracked my food, read my Bible, and got my work done. I was showing up for my spiritual, mental, and physical health. That counts.
It’s okay that I’m not where everyone else is yet because I’m on my own path, and I’m still growing. The key is to keep doing the things that make me into the person I want to be.
2. Don’t follow a crowd that’s clearly lost
Stop being afraid of being called weird, or judged for being you. A lot of people stay stuck in the same routine, living lives that don’t really feel like theirs, because they’re too scared to be fully themselves. That fear keeps them unhappy and wishing they had done more.
I’ve decided to choose myself. And I’ll keep choosing myself, every time.
So while some people might say I’m different, too loud, or that I ask too many questions, I know that’s how I find answers, create opportunities, and actually enjoy what I’m doing.
At the end of the day, you get to decide. Do you want to blend in just to feel comfortable? Or are you willing to be yourself, go after what you want, and enjoy the process?
3. Chase the future not the familiar
Comfort is a trap. Every level of life demands a new version of you.
When you catch yourself comparing and thinking someone else has something you will never have, stop. That mindset is bogus. The fact that they have it is proof it is possible. Do not let comparison turn into jealousy. Let it fuel you. If it is possible for them, it is possible for you too.
And never give up on something you cannot go a day without thinking about. Because chances are, you are already spending all that time thinking about it instead of taking even the smallest steps toward it. So why not start?
When I think about my biggest goals, what kind of person will I need to become to achieve them?
It is not about having everything figured out. It is about doing the next right thing as that future person would do. Do it right now, in the next thirty minutes. There is literally no excuse not to start. Being ready is not a feeling. It is a choice.
At the end of the day, growth isn’t about perfection or having all the answers. It’s about showing up, choosing yourself, and taking the next right step—even when it’s uncomfortable or uncertain. The journey to becoming who you want to be is always in progress, and that’s exactly where the magic happens.
So let this be your reminder: you don’t have to wait to feel ready. You don’t have to follow the crowd or compare your path to anyone else’s. The future is waiting for the version of you that’s willing to start now.
LOVE, P
